Volterra Landslides

What's the latest on conditions in Volterra? We have read about significant landslides in the cental city area this year. We are planning a trip to Tuscany and Umbria in November. We are currently considering a circuit that might include Siena as a hub, Volterra, Perugia as a hub, and Assisi.
We have been to Florence, Ravenna, Orvieto and some others. If Volterra is not a good choice for this year, what are some other recommendations? We do not plan to rent a car.

Road conditions can change between now and when you travel. A few years ago the roads to Volterra and San Gimignano were closed due to weather (mudslides) but reopened two days later.

Sounds like a great trip.

Good to check into this. We were there late March and could not reach our agriturismo. The road was closed within about 1/2 mile of where we needed to go. The detour was a long way and made it inconvenient to go back and forth to the town. There were two places near Volterra that we encountered this.

Just got back 2 weeks ago. On the road from San gimignano to Volterra one bring you go over is down to one lane. The hill is sliding and they are waiting for it to stop moving before fixing it totally a local told me. He road is open they just let a few cars go at a time.

In Volterra itself a portion of the hillside did slide down. One street is not accessible to cars and even some houses are evacuated at the edge. There is a crane there making repairs.

Those won't affect your visit at all to Volterra. Do go there on your trip. I loved the hilltown and everything we did.
