Vitorchiano

Spending 4-6 weeks in Italy (annual visit) landing in Rome but looking for small towns to spend a few nites before heading to our hometown, Ferrentillo near Terni. Considering Vitorchiano and may also return to San Gemini for a few days.
San Gemini was perfect for us-lite walking, several restaurants, some shopping.
Is Vitorchiano similar to San Gemini?
Love Bevagna, Spello, Foligno,Montepulciano just to give an idea of what we like
Any recommendations for lodging and dining would be appreciated

It's funny you mention Vitorchiano. We didn't stay there but did check it out in early 2024 as a potential candidate for a vacation home. At the time, we found the the vibe in the old town, particularly the medieval quarter very appealng, so it made it onto a short list of potential villages. We were back this Spring and viewed a couple properties with a local agent but we somehow didnt get that same feeling we had when we were first there, so we've since dropped it off the short list.

However, lets talk about Pitigliano. We visited it as well in early 2024 and stayed there for a week earlier this year. We found it appealing in 2024 and we continue to find it appealing. In the week we were there we looked at 5 apartments in the old town, and learned a lot. Our wish list has been modified as a result of what we learned and we continue to scan listing for just the right property. So I'd suggest you check out Pitigliano to spend a few nights. We were there in early April and it was really not busy at all. All shops, restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacies were open and there was a good selection.

If you feel up to it, I'd apppreciate hearing more about your property purchase experience in a private message.

Thanks,
Peter
