I know I must carry prescription medicine in marked bottles but what about viamin's and supplements. It would be so cumbersome to carrry all those bottles. I was planning on using a seven day pill box. Thanks for any help.
The worst they can do is to confiscate them. Keep your Rx drugs in marked bottles just in case you need medical attention, as doctors will need to know what you are taking. Trust me though, no one is going to give you a second glance as they wave you through the check point at the airport.
Don't know about coming from the USA but have always carried my vits/supps in an unmarked container and, 3 visits to Italy this year, have not had problems. Of course, any liquids will be subject to the usual limitations.
We usually put our daily vitamins into snack size ziplocks so its easier for us to take them with us to breakfast and remember to actually take our vitamins and we never had a problem.
I've heard of people peeling the labels from bottles, cutting the pertinent info from boxes, or even taking a photo of the bottles for their vits and supplements - if they ran into trouble, they had something to try.........OR, you could take the pills (just the amount you need) in empty ORIGINAL bottles on the way over, throw those bottles away (now you're using your 7-day box), then presumably you'd only have a few days worth upon returning to the USA in case someone got overzealous. Think of it as forced packing light - having to make room for those bottles! Now there's room for souvenirs ;-)
My husband and I take a lot of supplements. We bought those little zippered bags (approx 3x3") & put all our pills into them. We had 3 bags per day (breakfast, lunch & dinner) x 20 days so we had a lot of those little bags full of pills. No one asked us about them. I did take my Rx pills in the original bottles but not the supplements. The 7-day pill box should be just fine.
