My wife and I will be traveling through southern Italy in May of this year. We are thinking about visiting Malta. I just purchased the Lonely Planet Guide to Malta. Does anyone have any suggestions about Malta?
Hi Bill My wife and I were in Malta last May. It was a trip that we combined with Sicily. We spent five nights on Malta and could have easily spent more. It is an interesting place with lots of history. People were extremely friendly. The bus system is not only inexpensive, but very convenient and easy to use to get around the island. If you have any questions please ask and I can try and answer them.
Bill, the Lonely Planet guide to Malta will be invaluable for you. I was there for 2 weeks with friends about 5 years ago and we travelled all over the island on the buses. We also did a day trip to Sicily (Mt. Etna) which was fun. Try to see "the Malta Experience" and the WWII Operation Rooms. Both of these will be detailed in your guide book. The archeological museum in Valletta is small but interesting. A visit to the Café Deux Baronnes is one I can recommend, with excellent views onto one of the world's best harbours.
