visiting vineyards without a car from Siena or Bologna?

I will be spending a number of days in both Siena and Bologna later this year and am wondering if there are any vineyards I can visit by bus/train/affordable taxi ride from either city. I've found many wine tours from Siena but they all seem to be at least 150-200 euros per person.

Thanks for any ideas!

That may not be a bad price depending on the number of wineries visited. Visiting is a bit different than the US. The better wineries require a reservation and a fee. Public transit just doesn't exist for visiting wineries. You could use a taxi but many are not close to a major city or major roads.

may be worth hiring a driver for a day? SO many wineries close to Siena. My husband drove in Tuscany 2 days we were there and thought it would be worth hiring someone next time. That doesn't come cheap though

You might check Tours by Roberto. He has different joinable tours...has a lovely van, and is so knowledgeable and fun. We just enjoyed a tour with him last month, visiting Montepulciano and Montefalco wineries. His tours are limited to about 8 persons.

I would also suggest checking out Tours By Roberto. I recently booked the Montalcino & Val D’Orcia double wine tour from Siena for September. It's 90 euros per person after the discount if you have the RS Guidebook. Without the discount, it's 100 euros per person.

Oops...I meant Montepulciano and Montalcino....and Molly, that was the tour we took last month. So much fun...you’ll enjoy it!
