Hi Folks,
We are traveling back to Europe after 4 yr hiatus and I am trying to make a reservation for the guided tour of the Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como without having the expensive boat tour (taking public ferry as RS suggests). However, the internet search only turns up these package tours, is there a way to reserve your own tour of the villa without going through these middlemen?
Thanks,
Casey
This seems to be the official website:

I haven't been to the villa, but I gather from some quick Googling that you can just walk up and buy a ticket to the gardens, but you can only see the interior of the villa on a tour, and those tours sell out way, way ahead of time during busy seasons.
I visited the villa a couple years ago and just took the Mid lake ferry from Bellagio then just walked up and bought the tour tickets at the Villa
Few people were traveling two years ago, so I'm not at all sure it would be safe to walk up to the villa and expect to buy a tour ticket on-site--even in January.
We were there in August 2021 when few Americans were traveling but lots of Europeans. We walked up and bought tickets to the gardens but the tours of the interior were sold out. We peered in a few windows!
But if it is important to you, do buy ahead of time.
Thanks Everyone! I definitely want to make a reservation as we will be there in Mid May, shoulder but still may be crowded.
My husband and I tried to see the Villa, but all tickets were sold out to tour groups for the whole day! (We got there first thing in the morning.) We had to content ourselves with peeking in the windows and walking around the grounds(which are lovely).
The grounds are far more beautiful than the Villa so don’t be upset about missing it.
We take a public ferry to Lenno and then take a short walk out to the point to the Villa and grounds. Sometimes there also are water taxis to take you from Lenno to the Villa.
Well given it might be hard to get a ticket to go inside, glad we are not missing much, Thanks guys.
