Visiting Trieste looking for James Joyce

I am a fan of James Joyce. He lived in Trieste for over 10 years while he was working on Ulysses and many other books. We are planning on making a day by train from Venice in early May. What I would like to ask the community is for recommendations for local guides to show us around the city.

They obviously don't need to be terribly familiar with James Joyce but I would like to get a good feel for the city. Has anyone toured the city in the last ten years?

We stayed in Trieste for several days about 8 years ago. We did not use a guide but stayed in the James Joyce Hotel. I remember there was a statue of him in the neighborhood. We really enjoyed exploring Trieste.

ultimate walking tour of trieste. she mentions a pedestrian walkway crosses waterway named "passagio joyce" after him. click her tour map and print to use when you go
one more thing to think about. many cruises arrive and depart from trieste (which is listed as venice???? drives me nuts when it's 2+ hour train ride for a day trip ("venting")

click port, type in port name trieste. look at dates in may that cruise ships will be in port and avoid those days. looking at ship and it's capacity will give your approximate passengers on the ships which would have the city crowded.
we wanted to go couple years ago while in venice, saving in my bookmarks, but didn't work the way we hoped for.

take a 30 minute train ride to frascati, countryside away from the hustle and bustle of rome. family owned winery that is famous for white wines, home to the summer villa and gardens of the pope, small little village with a bakery and oven that is well known for the "best porchetta". read the info tabs on top of page and look at tours.
