Hi, all I will be visiting the Pantheon at the end of the month and had a couple questions.
1. If I go in the middle of the day, how long is the usual wait time to get in
2. I’ve heard about the Pantheon charging an entrance fee. Has this started? If so, how does this work?
3. How strict is the dress code? Will I (male 20s) be allowed to wear shorts?
I will attempt to answer.
1. Probably no wait or very short to get in, but check mass times as it is a church still in use, so consider that.
2. Not sure they are changing- maybe that is for a tour? Maybe someone there now can chime in….
3. As for shorts- it is a church but if the shorts are below your knee you should be fine.
There was a post today describing quite a line: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/today-at-the-pantheon
Luke, this live cam might be helpful for seeing crowd levels at different times of the day:

The proposed entry fee has not yet gone into effect so it's free unless you want to book a tour.

To visit on the weekend or a public holiday, you must make a free, timed-entry reservation.

Your shorts will likely be OK as long as they're knee length or nearly so. You'll need them to be at least that long for visiting other houses of worship. :O)
