Has anyone taken a day tour from Florence to the Cinque Terre? Is it doable in a day or is most of the time spent on the tour bus going to and from Florence.
Will be staying in Tuscany or Umbria after leaving Florence. Is it better to plan a one or two-night stay in the Cinque Terre?
I have not done a day tour from Florence so I can't comment on that, but I would choose to do a 2-night stay there. To me CT is nicer in the late afternoon, evening and early morning before the cruise ship/day trip crowds hit and after they depart.
I did a day trip from Florence to the CT last May. The company is WalkaboutFlorence.com. Details are on the web site. It was a highlight of my trip. I should mention that the excursion is an escorted hike with a few breaks into the villages.
