Reading in the Rick Steves' Italy book it notes that the St. Peters' Basilica opens at 10 on Wednesdays. We do not have another day to visit, we have spent several days in Rome and it is one activity I would REALLY like to share with my family. Should I opt for a different option or go for it? Do you have any suggestions on how to make this work for our family? We have one day in Rome. We will be traveling with 3 teens and 2 parents. We have stood outside the Vatican before and the line was not really moving. We have also toured the Vatican Museum and the surrounding area. We had young children at the time and the sun was beating down on us in line, so we opted for another venue.
Our other option is to skip Rome all together (we have spent 3 days there) and spend 2 days in Florence, which we have never seen. I am leaning toward this option, unless we can make the Basilica work.
Thank you!
