Visiting St. Peter's on a Sunday?

My husband and I will be in Rome for a short period and may have to visit St. Peter's on a Sunday morning...wondering if this is a bad idea (assuming there are services in progress)? - Can anyone tell me what it's like on a Sunday??? Thank you.

there are usually services going on in the side chapels. Just don't enter during one and you'll be fine. Donna

Remember you will have to go through security and may have a bit of a wait depending on the time of day you show up.
