Visiting Praiano on the Amalfi Coast

We plan on renting a house in Praiano, May 2019. I'd like to get some recommendations on where we should fly into and once arrived, best way to get to our destination. There are 6 adults in this group. We do not want to rent a car(s). I know renting a private driver is an option. Also, would it be worth flying into Rome instead of Naples, even though it is a farther drive. Thanks for any help!

Fly into Naples if possible but you can not do that directly from the USA like you can Rome.
It is a !ong ride. But you can't ake train Rome to Naples and the maybe a hydrofoil to Praiano.

Flying into Naples you will have to change planes in another city. If you fly into Rome, likely a less expensive flight, you would taxi to Roma Termini, about 30 minutes then train to Napoli Centrale 1hr 17 min. Then private driver to Praiano. There are no ferrys that connect Naples with the Amalfi Coast. Praiano does not have a ferry dock, so the traveling you will do along the coast will be by bus or connecting with a ferry in Positano or Amalfi.

I went from Rome to Salerno by train. Then walked the three blocks to the ferry terminal and caught the ferry to Amalfi. In Amalfi I got the Sita bus and got off in Praiano. I enjoyed it more than taking the bus the entire way from Salerno and I believe a bit less expensive. Also, I think you can book the ferry tickets online. Just a note. Praiano is all steps. There is no flat area so be ready to hike up and down just about everywhere you go.

We had three glorious weeks in June centered on the Amalfi Coast including two nights in Praiano.

It's a sweet little town but not the best base for the coast as there is no port as others have said. If it's not too late you might consider Positano, which we loved, or Atrani, which is walkable to Amalfi.

We used Umberto Limos Positano for almost all our transfers including from the Rome airport into Naples for our first two nights. They were terrific and have vans and sedans.

Enjoy!

We are traveling to Praiano at the end of the month. We are coming in from France by train, but are taking the high speed train into Salerno. You could fly into Rome or Florence for that matter. Book your train tickets when they come on sale. Then from Salerno, we are taking the ferry to Positano, then the smaller Mobility Coast Amalfi bus to Praiano. (It just runs a circuit between the two towns. You can also get the Sita bus as well from Positano to Praiano or the Sita in from Amalfi like the other poster suggested. There is no direct bus from Salerno to Praiano, as you have to change buses in Amalfi. There is no Ferry dock in Praiano, but you can arrive by water. Private water taxi from Positano or Amalfi, but then you are lugging your stuff up, up, up. I can give you more details after we actually do this if you like. Just send me a PM. It will make it easier to reply.

We just got back from Praiano. We really enjoyed the town. Our accommodations were amazing, and had a wonderful view, so that made things much easier. We took the high speed train into Salerno, walked down to the Ferry dock and bought our tickets for the Ferry to Amalfi. Then we went to the tourist office which is right at the end of the ferry dock in Amalfi and purchased our Sita bus tickets to Praiano. As it is the start of the line, we had no issues with overcrowding or getting a seat on the bus. The bus ride is about 20-25 minutes and we got off at stop 7 right before the church. Most of Praiano is steps, so keep that in mind. We were there for 8 nights, so if you want any details, send me a pm and I would be happy to help you out. Enjoy!!
