Visiting Pompeii? Watch this!

I highly recommend The Great Courses Plus series titled Pompeii: Daily Life in an Ancient Roman City. There are 24 lectures on the excavated city. It is not so much about daily life as about all that has been found and interpreted. It will prepare you for your visit OR be highly interesting if you have visited. You can get Great Courses Plus (Plus is important) on IPad, Roku, etc. You can cancel any time so you could just watch this one course if desired.

The Great Courses Plus is $20 per month if you keep it after the free trial. That's too much! But when you go to cancel, the web site will offer more cost effective deals. We pay $10 per month (3 months for $30.)

There is a HUGE catalog of courses. We really enjoy it as a change of pace from normal TV fare. Everyone should try it since you can cancel with no cost.

I have bought individual courses in science in the past. Each individual course is over $200 but they occasionally have sales and several fall under $60 each after a while. You can also subscribe for a monthly fee, if you like (and have the time) to access them all.

One of the courses I bought many many years ago was entirely lectured by a then young and unknown professor named Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and it was the greatest astrophysics course I ever saw. Later when that young professor became one the most famous scientific lecturers, I was not at all surprised. They really choose great lecturers for those courses.
