Visiting Matera

We have two days in Matera. Wondering if the Crypt of Original Sin is a good choice with our limited time. The first day we will have a 3 hour tour visiting the two districts,including the Casa Grotta and the Rock Church. We have additional walking tour information which includes hiring a driver to visit the Crypt. The Crypt comes with the footnote - You cannot miss it. True? Another suggestions?

The last two times I visited Matera, the Crypt was closed. It is beautiful, however, so if you have a chance to see it, I would do so. The path down to the crypt is a little uneven but there is a staircase part of the way.
