Visiting Italy around Easter 2016. Where should we be during Easter?

We are arriving in Rome on March 17th 2016. Current plan is Rome till 21st, Napoli from 21st to 24th, back in Rome during Easter, Florence 27th to 30th and flying out on the 31st.

I read about Trepani procession and was wondering if we should skip going back to Rome for Easter and instead go to Trapani.

Would love to get some advice on this please.

Trapani is in western Sicily, which is a long way from everywhere else you will be. You can fly there, of course, but I would recommend devoting at least 3-4 nights if you bother to go. There's a lot to see: Erice, Segesta, Palermo, Monreale.... There are other processions in Italy though: Napoli, Cortona, even Firenze.

And FYI, they are on Good Friday (Venerdi Santo). So you are looking for the Holy Week events that culminate on March 25 in 2016.
