When is the best time to visit Italy. I want to schedule a tour but do not want to go on a high tourist season. I want to see as much as I can in just two weeks. When is the best month to go?

I've found that May and late Sept were good. Maybe more chance of rain in the fall. Summer very hot!

This is our 3rd trip and always have gone in May- only had 2 cool days(jackets)so far.

We went mid October to Early November. I'd gladly go back during that time of year and would avoid summer - as much for the hot weather as the crowds and prices.

We also have done Italy in October and think it is a great month to go. Fewer crowds and the weather is still pretty reasonable.

I'd suggest either "shoulder season" - May / June or Sept. / Oct.
The weather is usually quite decent, and the crowds are less than in July & August. What type of tour are you planning?
