Hi
Visiting Florence, Siena (including small towns around) then travel to Rome.
Need a little advice. My wife and I are planning to spend three nights visiting Florence (three nights). From there, we’re planning on taking the train or the bus to Siena. We’ll stay in Siena for three nights. Thinking on renting a car or just take a bus to visit few small towns near Siena.
After Siena, continue to Rome. Question. What’s the best way to go from Siena to Rome? Should we take the train back to Florence, then take the train to Rome or is a train from Siena to Rome an option?
Thank you
The Trenitalia website offer a lot of possibilities, including the shortest (but not fastest) itinerary through Chiusi and also a connection through Pisa, but the fastest options are by backtracking to Florence. There should be direct buses to Roma Tiburtina also.
Take a bus from Florence to Siena. The train takes longer and drops you off outside of town. The bus is shorter and drops you off across the street from the old town.
Rent a car in Siena and day trip to either Volterra or Montepulciano. The drive from Siena to Montepulciano along the Val d’Orcia is scenic featuring many landscapes: https://lovefromtuscany.com/scenic-drives-in-tuscany/. After your last night in Siena take a direct bus to Rome.
