I am trying to plan a daily itinerary for our 3 days in Rome (second visit). We missed the Castel last time. In checking the website it looks like they had a special event until September 17 but then I can find not dates after. Do you know if it is open October 27,28,or 29?

The Special Event may have been a separate exhibition that is being held. The castle is open for tours everyday, from 9:00 AM until 7:30 PM. Other than some tourist card, I do not think there is an advantage of buying a ticket ahead of time, it is not usually overcrowded, you can just pop in, buy a ticket and wander through it as it fits in with walking around that part of Rome.
