I was thinking of not purchasing an advance ticket to visit the Capitolina Museum (Rome) on a Friday afternoon. Has anyone been there recently to share some feedback on it?

The Capitoline is usually not very crowded as many tourists overlook it. I was there Sunday afternoon at 2 pm and walked right in. It has a fabulous collection. There is also a rooftop cafe and bar with great views.

Yes we were there a few weeks ago. Didn't purchase advance tickets. There were only two couples in front of us but the line moved very slowly for unknown reasons. I think it took 20 mins to get to the counter. We rented a video guide device. The free maps are behind you on the right-hand side when you purchase the tickets.
Be sure to see the amazing Caravaggios on the top floor (which are not in Rick's tour).
