Visiting Bergamo or Parma, Italy

I am considering a day trip to either Bergamo or Parma and was wondering about hiring a guide for 3-4 hours, like an afternoon, maybe a student who would like to earn 10 euros an hour. Anybody know of such services. Would love it if they could meet me at the train station (for example) and then show me around the places of interest that we see on the internet.

You might get lucky, but I wouldn't expect a northern Italian to be thrilled by 10 euros ($11) per hour. However, I confess that I've never looked into arranging something like that.

Now, that sounds like a win-win. I've paid a pretty penny for private or semi-private language classes in Europe.

Italy is pretty strict about requiring local guides to be licensed (see some for Bergamo), so I don't hold out much hope of a cheaper alternative.
