Visiting Amalfi Coast late September

We have a choice of going to the Amalfi Coast and surrounding area in Sept. We can go mid or the last week. I would like some views on these different dates. I have heard that the harvest season starts earlier in the month. Thanks for your help

I'm not sure if you are looking for beach/pool weather, but my brother visited the Amalfi Coast late last September and it was too cool to relax on the beach or at the pool while they were there. However, it was lovely touring whether. If you are looking to spend time on the beach or at the pool, I'd go earlier. I'll be there in July, I'm sure it will be HOT HOT HOT!

I would personally go as early as possible so I would go mid-Spet. The later you go, the more of a chance of rain and for me, the rain really puts a damper on photography opportunities & being outdoors. I would want decent weather for visiting the Amalfi coast because so many of the tourist-type attractions are outdoors (taking boat tours up/down the coast or around Capri, taking the chair lift on Capri, doing some hikes, etc.). We were in the CT in mid-Sept of 2009 & it rained 2 out of the 3 days that we were there & it sure put a damper on our plans. The earlier you go in Sept, the better but that's just my 2 cents.

September is a great month for the Amalfi coast. Of course it can rain anywhere anytime, but it won't last long, and you will eventually be warmed by the sun. Not sure whether you plan to swim, (I've seen some swimmers there even in December!) but it will be great for boat rides. What harvest plans do you have? Not many grapes along the Amalfi coast. Lemons, yes, plenty of those that's why they make wonderful Limoncello there! Perhaps you are somewhere else in Italy that month, and you'll have to ask locally for harvest activities.

I have been to Italy a few times and really know very little of the southern part, Naples and beyond. I thought we may have a chance to see Sicly but I expect this is too much in a short time. I have a lot of reading and planning to do but I love the advice I get from this site. You guys helped me plan all my other trips too. I would like to find a farm house as our home base maybe around Sorrento. Look forward to more ideas. Oh , I am not really interested in swimming or laying out in the sun, I am from Florida and looking forward to a little cool weather! Thanks

We've been to the Amalfi Coast twice for 3-day visits in late September, and it was great. Coincidentally, both visits we arrived in Positano in rainy, miserable weather, only to have gorgeous weather the next 3 days.
