We will be in Rome and are planning to visit for the day with family in Caserta. Is it best to take train to Sorrento or Naples?
There are non-stop trains between Roma Termini and Caserta twice in the morning (8:45 and 11:15) and 3 times in the evening (5:05, 8:02 and 10:05). Trip takes about 1 hour 10 miutes and costs 29 euro each way 2nd class, except for the 8:02 train which costs 34 euro. You could also take any train to Napoli Centrale and then a local train to Caserta, although that route would take at least twice as long and would likely cost more. You can check schedules and prices at www.trenitalia.com.
