My husband and I, along with our two children, are traveling to Italy in mid-September. This is our third trip to Italy, but we are going to Bologna for the first time and I am having some difficulty finding a hotel that seems adequate for us. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried using Trip Advisor, also, but am running out of options unless I want to spend several hundred dollars a night! Thanks in advance!
Bologna hotels can be expensive when there is an exhibition or convention at the exhibition hall. During other times, these are moderately priced in euros but of course the true cost to you will be x 1.6:Albergo AccademiaAlbergo San VitaleAlbergo Centrale
This probably isn't helpful but I had the same problem in March when we were planning to go to Bologna. We ended up going to Verona instead and had a wonderful time!
Bologna can be expensive as it has a major exhibition centre on the outskirts of town and the hotels are full of exhibitors and visitors to the exhibitions. We visited 2 years ago for an exhibition and stayed at the Hotel Al Cappello Rosso and found it very good. Good part of town to be in too. It also wasn't that expensive from memory. I booked it through trip advisor. Good luck.
My family of four (2 kids ages 11 and 15)is leaving for Italy in 11 days and will be spending three nights in beautiful Bologna. We are staying at Albergo Centrale which is in the historic center just off Piazza Maggiore. We have a quad with private bath and breakfast for 100 euros per night. Nice reviews on venere.com. In fact, we booked early at a higher rate, saw a special offer on their website (www.albergocentralebologna.it), emailed them to see if they would extend the offer to me and they happily did.
Try VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner), a website that has apartments - usually a 3 day minimum is required. My husband and I found an apartment in Bologna for October for a reasonable rate.
