Visit to Alba and Turin

We are visiting Alba in a couple weeks. Since we are taking the train, we will not have a car. We’d like to spend a day in Barolo doing some wine tasting, tour and lunch.

We looked into a private “tour” with transportation but way above our budget. So thinking we should be able to hire a taxi or driver to pick us up in Alba in the morning to Baroloa, then back to Alba late afternoon.
Has anyone hired a driver for a day or used taxis? I’m sure it will be easy to get a taxi there from Alba, but concerned about the ride back. Rome2rio Rio shows a bus to/from Alba/Barolo, but car/ taxi gives us more flexibility.

Any favorite wine tasting or Enotecas to visit in Alba? Restaurants?

We are spending two nights in Turin after Alba. We enjoyed the Auto museum, Cinema Museum, Egyptian museum, and Christmas lights last visit in 2018. What other things to see or do should we do this time. Weather will be way nicer in March than December.

Thanks for suggestions.

We rented a car for our trip and I just limited myself to small sips of my wife's tasting. The entire region is very easy driving experience and the towns are so close together that we never needed to purchase any gas in our rental car.

We had an amazing wine tasting in Neive at Bottega dei Quattro Vini (https://www.bottegadei4vini.com/en/). It's a cooperative for a number of wineries in the Neive area. We had three meals at Osteria dei Sognatori in Alba and they were consistently very good.

Hope this helps.

Edit to add: if you like hazelnuts, I would suggest asking if the restaurant has Nocciolino Langhe digestive. It's less sweet than Frangelico and a great way to finish a meal. It was one of my favorite finds.

Unfortunately renting a car is not a legal option. After being a resident of Italy for a year, our California DL are not valid in Italy. Not willing to take the risk.
