Going to Italy and was wondering if Visa is used more than MasterCard. Also wondering if you can pay with Apple Pay or Using your Apple wallet. Seems like that would be easier than pulling out your credit card all the time to purchase something!
Not sure if this question has been answered so it's worth a shot.

The last place I remember where Visa was accepted when Mastercard was not, or vice versa, was in Sao Paulo, Brazil - in 2000. Nowadays in Europe, places that take one will take the other. American Express, as you probably know, is a different story; many places that take Visa and MC will not take Amex.
I don't know for sure about Apple Pay as I don't use it, but I can only recall seeing it a few times on my recent trips. However, these trips were to Spain, France, and Switzerland, not Italy. Definitely don't count on it, and be pleasantly surprised if you find it.

Visa is used more than MasterCard in the world by number of transactions and number of cards in use. But it doesn't matter unless you are a t the Olympics where Visa is the only card accepted. Use whichever one you want.
The only place in Europe I have used Apple pay is on the London subway.

Apple pay has been in Italy since May, so it should work anywhere with NFC contactless, although cannot be absolutely relied upon. Android pay is not (yet).
