I am just wondering if I need to get the electronic Visa if i am flying to Rome but layover at Heathrow Airport for about 2 hours. I called British airway and they cannot give me the answer. I read on line some say yes and some say no. I am little confused. Would someone please give me some advice? thanks
Do you mean a visa to pass through the UK or an ETA? They are not the same thing.
Find out what they are and what you need here
What country's passport do you hold?
If US or Canada, you don't need a visa nor do you need an ETA for just connecting at Heathrow.
The ETA is not a visa.
No-one can answer you without knowing which country's passport you hold. As Frank II says, you may need an ETA for the UK if you are a US passport holder. This is NOT a visa - if you have a UK visa you don't need an ETA.
That said, if you're in transit on one booking and don't pass passport control, you don't need an ETA. Only you know what tickets you booked.
I have US passport and my flight is layover at Heathrow airport for 1&1/2 hrs. before leaving to Rome. Do i need ETA then?
No, you don't need an ETA if you are just connecting at Heathrow. (As long as you have the boarding pass for the second flight.)
Go to this website, fill in your flight information and it will give you step by step instructions on what you have to do:
Thank you so much Frank II for the info.
