I have heard about virtual tours in Rome (where you may go to an ancient site and through VR see what it really looked like in its time) and looked at a couple of tour companies - but have no first hand knowledge or know anyone who has done any of these. I think it would be very exciting to go to a place like the forum....and to be able to see what it really looked like). Does anyone have any information or experience with any of these? I would welcome your input. Thanks!
Don’t know about the forum, but portion of the Domus Aurea Tour has virtual reality.
I haven't done this but someone was telling me about palazzo valentini. Apparently has VR of ancient villas and homes.
I believe the forum (or was it Trajan's forum?) has evening shows with lights and projections. I didn't do this either but saw the lights while walking by.
This probably isn't what you're looking for, and I don't know when the next free online class will be available but it may be a place to start before you go?

The virtual models and course was developed by a professor at the University of Reading, and I've an educator friend in England who speaks highly of FutureLearn courses.

I'm not sure this is what you're looking for either but give "Sound-and-Light Shows: Forum of Caesar and Forum of Augustus" a look-see?
