Virtual realty tours

Ok, I know of may be cheesy but was thinking of scheduling one virtual realty tour while in Rome in Rome that the kids would enjoy. Does anyone have an opinion of which is better- Domus Romane or the Imperial Foro(Ceasar and Augustus forum) tours?

Thank you!

I don't think it's cheesy at all. Trying to imagine a Roman ruin in its heyday is almost impossible. How can you imagine that pile of crumbling brick covered in precious marble? Looking forward to hearing from someone who's done a VR tour.

DEFINITELY take advantage of the VR tours in Rome, dpucci95!! I've done 2 so far: the Domus Aurea (Nero's Golden House) and The Baths of Caracalla. The VR for Domus Aurea is for 1 room of the tour, and it is WELL worth it. I loved that entire tour, but I was gobsmacked by the VR experience. They did an amazing job recreating the palace as it would have looked in Nero's time. The Baths of Caracalla VR tour is actually even better, in my opinion. The tour is self-paced. You receive the VR device and are then able to explore the baths complex at your leisure. I did this tour back in February, and it was outstanding. I visited the Baths of Caracalla on my first trip to Rome, and was left a little disappointed because so much of the complex has been scavenged for other buildings in Rome. The VR tour does an impressive job of recreating the Baths in all their original glory, and it gives you a much better idea of the grand scale the complex was built on. It's definitely kid-friendly. The Baths are probably more kid-friendly than Domus Aurea since there's more VR time and self-paced.

Here's a great write-up about the Baths of Caracalla VR tour, and I strongly encourage you to enjoy it with your family: http://www.italymagazine.com/tags/baths-caracalla

I haven't done the Forum tour, and would love to hear about the experience from others who have partaken of that tour!

Happy planning!

All three of those are very well done and not at all cheesy. You need to reserve well in advance for the Domus Romane as Englis tours are limited.
