Virtual reality (or similar experience) in Rome

My husband, almost 10 year old son and I will be in Rome in early July. I wanted to go to Domus Aurea but it looks like it is only open on weekends, and we will not be there on a weekend. I am interested in finding a cool virtual reality (or similar type experience) that will help my son visualize what Rome (or part of it) would have been like in ancient times. Would the Baths of Caracalla be a good substitute for Domus Aurea? Or has anyone done this Rome Immersive Multimedia Show?

Would welcome any suggestions. Thanks so much!!

I am hopeful that the show will run again in 2025, hopefully not just on weekends.

We have visited Palazzo Valentini and Domus Aurea (both times buying tickets directly through the official site). For a 10-year-old, Palazzo Valentini will be as interesting, I think, as Domus Aurea.

Have a good trip.

Edited to add: Yes, in both cases we enjoyed the VR.

Elena, thanks for sharing your experience with Palazzo Valentini! Sounds like it might be a great option for us. Also, in a different post you mentioned your travels with your kids. If there were any specific sights/things to do in Rome that your kids particularly enjoyed, I’d love to hear. thank you!!

We didn't plan much specifically for the kids, but they liked Rome quite a bit, especially ancient Rome. And the gelato.
