I decided to splurge and recently booked the VIP Vatican Key Master's Tour for my October trip. I'm glad that I did not wait any longer, as there are only 4 tickets remaining. The tour begins at 6am. I will need to return to Vatican City on another morning in order to see St. Peter's without a line. There is one tour available the following day also through Walks (of Italy) -St. Peter’s Basilica from Top to Bottom with Dome Climb & Crypt- 3hrs for $44 ($39.60 with discount). The tour is 3 hours 7:15am-10:15am.
I could sure use some advice? IMO it seems like that would be the smart way to avoid waiting in a long line, though I know I would still need to go through security. My goal is to beat the crowds if at all possible.
If I spent two mornings at Vatican City for these tours, it does free up time for the remainder of each day elsewhere. I sure wish I could be sure about a Colosseum date/time/tour now, but I'll have to wait.
Thanks!
