I am going to Vinice in November and need to book hotel rooms for 8 people. Where can I find a reasonable,nice clean and convenient hotel?

Sudie - My best suggestion would be
http://www.hotelcasanova.it/ The Hotel is located directly behind Piazza San Marco and easy walking to Rialto, Grand Canal, etc. Franco and Stefano are friends of mine and will take care of you very well. "Reasonable" in Venice is not really possible versus other cities or locations but they will give you a group discount.

Last year we stayed at Hotel Abbazia in Canneregio near the train station on a quiet calle (alley). I found it in Frommer's Guide and venere.com. The hotel has its own website.
I agree with Greg that reasonable and Venice are not possible. Venice is unique and you will pay for it compared to other cities in Italy. However, it is worth the splurge.

I stayed at Pensione Guerrato in April 09 and really liked the hotel, location was great.

With such a large group, why not consider renting an apartment. Check out vrbo. Many choices and reasonable rates.
