Ciao! we are leaving for italy this week and one day we are renting a car because we want to explore Montepulciano on our own. We plan to go to the Di Ricci cantina and Contuccis in the town. On the way there we could drive the country road through sienna or we could go the highway passing by cortona. I’m looking for vineyard recommendations in the Sienna or Cortona area. . In past trips we stopped at Baracchi in Cortona and it was exquisite- go if you can! What else do we not need to miss?

We drove around and when we saw a sign for a vineyard or winery, we drove down the usually dirt roads. Usually no English was spoken but tastings were offered to us. Google “Siena wineries” to get some ideas.

I highly recommend a tour to the wineries... even I bike tour if you are cyclist. But a tour makes sue you get to wineries with English speaking hosts. There are many tours offered.
