For those of you that have taken this tour, what is the best way to get from the Venice airport to Padua? I am investigating a bus/train combination - catch the bus at the airport which goes to the train station. Has anyone done this and is it easy to walk to the bus stop with one suitcase? I will be traveling alone.
There is a bus that goes from the airport to the Padova bus station.
For my tour, I booked a hotel in Venice for a couple days & then took train to Padova. It was a lovely way to relax & get over jet lag before the tour.
If your group is staying at the Hotel Al Fagiano, the walk is about 30 minutes from the Padua train station or there’s a tram or taxi. We took a taxi. RS should give you directions by email before your trip or the info will be here online in your tour account info.
Bus stops are right outside the airport terminal.

Leaving for this one in about a week, and staying in Venice for a few days prior to the tour start. Shared water taxi into Venice and then taking one of the many daily trains to Padua on the day of. Enjoy!
It's been a few years but as I recall, exit the Venice airport terminal and turn left to get to the bus stop that takes you to Padova. Once in Padova, the tram is to the right of the bus stop, approximately 100 yards. Very easy.
I'm taking this tour late October, I am also staying in Venice for 3 nights pre-tour. The bus goes to Padua (Padova) from the airport, but if you spend any time in Venice, the bus will take you to Piazzale Roma and from there the train station is just a short walk. I will be taking a train the day before the tour starts and spending a pre-night in Padua. There are multiple trains a day from Venice St. Lucia station to Padua, it's about a 40-minute train ride. I see that the Tram in Padua is not running currently due to construction, so it requires a taxi ride to get to the hotel from the train station, the buses also go to the same station as the train in Padua.
You should have this information in your tour documents.
**This is the information I got from the tour documents from Rick Steves office:
**From Padua Train Station to Hotel Majestic Toscanelli
By Taxi
The tram line connecting the train station with the hotel is currently under construction, so you’ll have to catch
a taxi.
A taxi from the train station to the hotel will cost around €15 and take about 15 minutes. Official taxis are well
signed and available in front of the train station.
Catching the bus at the Venice airport is very easy. It stops right near the terminal in the parking lot. Once in Padua you can decide on taxi, bus or tram depending on what's available.
Folks who stayed in Venice a day or two upon arrival, where did you stay that you would recommend?

I stayed at Al Ponte Mocenigo and loved it. It is a little bit away from the tourist center (but not far) and was quieter. Here is the link: https://alpontemocenigo.com/
