Villa or Apartment in Tuscany or Florence?

Hi all!

We are traveling to Italy in May for our honeymoon and are planning to spend 6 days/7 nights in Tuscany. We are both big wine lovers and foodies, so we definitely want to do wine tastings/tours and cooking glasses. We want to see some architecture, but would more so like to relax and enjoy the wineries, countryside area. We would like to take day trips to Sienna/Lucca/Pisa as well if time persists. We just had a few questions if anyone has been and can provide their experience? :)

  1. Should we stay in Florence or Tuscan countryside (Greve/Ghianti area? or any other recommended areas)? - We have been looking at both villas and apartments. We want our privacy, which is why we saw some apartments for 2 people; however, we are open to staying at a villa where the hosts provide cooking classes, are located on a farm or winery, etc. but still have our own bedroom and common area. Some of the apartments we saw on Air BnB were beautiful with a great view and amenities, but the villas also look gorgeous!

  2. Is a villa or apartment more fun to stay in? Any specific websites we should book through? For now, we have been looking on Air BnB, but we did find some lists of popular villas/apartments that we may contact.

  3. If we plan to do day trips to neighboring areas, would staying in either Florence or the Tuscan countryside matter? We don't really want to switch staying locations half way through and rather stay in one villa/apt for the time we are there. We are planning to rent a car as well :)

  4. Any well recommended villas or apartments in specific areas to look in to get that "on a farm/vineyard" feel where we can interact with people of Tuscany and do cooking classes and other experience?

Out of our whole Italy trip, this is our favorite area since we want to get that romantic, but at the same time, countryside relaxing, fun feel and make the most of the experiences we can. So if there are any other recommendations for Tuscany, please please let us know! :)

Thank you so much!!!

It sounds like you really want to be in tne countryside but near enough to Florence? The Chianti region would be perfect for you. Look at SR 222, the historic route, to find villages on it or nearby such as Greve, Panzano, Castellina, Radda. It would be more difficult to do day yrips from Dlorence than from a town in Chianti.
Villa vs apartment? Would you have a whole villa to yourselves? Maybe an agriturismo? Or a boutique hotel? You have more services in a hotel lr agrirurismo than an apartment/villa.

I agree that a ciuntry setting would suit. Look as someplace close enough to paek the car and train into Florence for the day. Years ago an apartment over a small home winery....sheep and vineyards out the window. It was in the Valdarno region, slightly outside Chianti with Montevarchi as the train town. It would be more rustic than the full on romance of a villa done up for tourists....but a good location
