Villa Borghese

How much time should I allow to see the Villa Borghese and the Gardens?

About 2-3 hours max. I believe you are only allowed in the villa for 2 hours, and that is more than plenty. But you do have to be there half an hour before your entry time, and it could take a couple minutes on both end to check your bags and pick them up again. The garden attached to the villa is only worth a quick glance IMHO. The park surrounding is vast and lovely enough, but nothing extraordinary and you don't have to linger if you have a busy schedule.

You are only allotted 2 hours inside the gallery. You must be there and checked in at least a half hour prior to entry time or they start to give away reservations as unclaimed. The park is huge so how much time you spend there depends on your interests. Donna

The Villa Borghese refers to the park. The Galleria Borghese is the museum located within the Villa Borghese. If you have reservations for the Galleria, you only get 2 hours. Be there on time. My wife and I were there to see if we could possibly get tickets if someone did not show up for their reservation and the two ladies working the desk were really unpleasant and loud. The park is huge and you could spend hours and hours there, visiting the other museums, renting bikes or a boat to take out on the lake. It's a great place to hang out and watch the locals being locals.

Reservations are recommended. If you don't have a reservation you may not get in, or you might have to return at a later time. The park is huge, and as others have said how much if any time you spend is up to you.

There are formal gardens at the Borghese but you cannot access them--only look through the fences...
