Viewing the Vatican and Sistine Chapel

Looking at options. I guess it is best to book a tour to avoid queues. We will be there in May and I am looking at Angel Tours which is E50 per person. Does that sound about average? Anyone else had a good experience of another tour group?

We used Angel tours last summer -- thought the price was closer to 25 E. Since they use young art students I don't think the tours are as professional or smooth as with professional tour BUT BUT .... the enthusiasm of the young art students more than make up the difference. We will use them again on our next trip.

How about downloading a travel podcast on both the Sistine, and St Peter's? And for lots of other sites in Italy. The Sistine is meant to be a silent place (but it isn't!). I have never had a problem with St Peter's, and just walked into the Sistine at a reasonable hour. Have a fabulous holiday.

We uses ThroughEternity tours for a half day in the Vatican museum and the Sistine. The guide was fantastic (Marla I believe was her name). Even my nieces enjoyed the museum. We were on our own for St. Peters.

I did the Angel tour of the Vatican last year and really enjoyed it. I'm sure I only paid 25Euro too though. I'm in Rome in May and will be doing another tour with them. I would recommend you do a tour that takes in the Vatican and St Peters as, although you can go through St Peters by yourself, you find out so much more if you do a tour.
