Vicenza or Verona?

We are staying in Padua for a few days before starting the Village Italy tour. Regarding day trips from Padua, we plan on Venice but are wondering whether to visit Verona or Vicenza? Thanks for your advice!

I enjoyed both, but enjoyed Verona more. It's a destination I plan on revisiting.

If you can only visti one, Verona has, in my opinion, much more to offer. However, with a really early start and late return, you migh be able to squeeze them both in as they are not that far apart by train.

Have visited both on day trips from Venice, and I would say Verona is more interesting.
Although, the absolute best coffee on that trip was at a bar in Vicenza in the main square!

I would pick Verona over Vicenza - much more to see & do in Verona. But, if you have not been to Venice previously, can I convince you to strongly consider staying in Venice two nights, instead? Venice is much more of a contrast to the suite of smaller cities you will enjoy on the tour. Those who dislike Venice generally have only briefly experienced it. It’s absolutely extra charming early morning & evening when you wouldn’t be there. (I’ve stayed in 46 cities in Italy, and Venice is still in my top 4 - Venice, Spello, Polignano a Mare & Stresa)

I agree with Jean. Stay overnight in Venice & spend 2 whole days there. In fact, I advise spending 4 nights if you can. You will see Venice at its worse, unfortunately, if you visit for a day. we just spent 5 weeks in Italy, and Venice is our favorite city.

We also enjoyed Verona very much too.

Thanks very much for your replies. Since we stated in. Endive for about five days just a few years ago, we will just day trip from Padua to Venice this time. And, at this point, Verona is winning and will be our additional choice.

We have been to both Verona and Vicenza (3 nights each). Verona is very touristy and busy but has a bustling centre and wonderful roman ruins and some beautiful churches. But, Vicenza was incredible. It was very quiet and the Teatro Olimpico was one of the most impressive sites I've visited.
The city features the architecture of Andrea Palladio. I highly recommend Vicenza over Verona for a very unique experience.
(Treviso is also wonderful)
