My Husband and I are traveling to Italy in June 2009. We are trying to decide which is a better place to stay: Vicenza or Verona? Has anyone been to both places and if so which would be the better place to stay?

Verona. Much more to see and do there. Vicenza is very interesting, but a better day trip.

I live in Vicenza, and love my adopted home town. But it is best appriciated in a day trip with a taxi ride to the Villas. Verona has a nice central downtown. plus you will be there for Opera season. You could see an Opera in the Verona Arena. So, yeah, I vote Verona.

Verona! Try hotel Torcolo (sp?). Much more to see and do than Vicenza which is only 20 minutes or so away by train and is easily doable as a day trip. Contact me directly if you need details. TC

Verona has more to see and do. I was there in October so I missed the Opera. If I have the chance, I will definitely go back for a performance in the arena.
