Just arrived at the hotel oceania (Rick steves recommendation) and the hotel failed to arrange for the pickup for the Vatican tour (Anna). Even got an email indicating they would call. No message at the desk on when the shuttle was to pick up us from the hotel. Tried calling the bus company, green line, this evening but no answer. Tour is in the morning and can't get a hold of them.
Viator Tours looks like changed their numbering system so it is a bit confusing to try to determine when the tour starts and how to hook up with them. Any ideas?
You could try calling Viator's customer service number' +1 (702) 648-5873 Next time you might just want to book directly with the vatican to avoid situations like this. Hope it works out for you. Donna
Thanks for the number. Will try that. I was trying to get the tou combined with transportation. The one stop shop deal, but dealing with three shops - viator, hotel oceania, green line shuttle...... Would have been easier just to book with the Vatican directly and take a cab or bus over. Lesson learned and for others reading this.
Unfortunately, Viator is a consolidator and when you book with them you may end up having to book and deal with several companies instead of just one. Let us know how it turns out. Donna
Did you reserve the tour direct? You stated that the hotel failed to arrange the pickup so I'm wondering why, if this was their responsibility, they haven't helped. As stated above, Viator is only a tour consolidator, they don't actually run any of the tours.
Richard, did it work out? We are anxious to hear how you got to the Vatican and if you liked your tour. The Sistine Chapel does get crowded. Last time I went I brought my iPod with the RS Sistine tour on it, went to the back wall where the wooden benches are, sat and listened to Rick tell me about the wonderful art. It was like being on my own private tour!
