Viareggio or Other Seaside Towns in Tuscany

My family and I will be traveling over the summer and we are looking to stay in a seaside town in Tuscany. We are considering Viareggio. If you have stayed there, we would love your input. As well, if there are other seaside towns anyone can recommend, that would be great as well. Thank you

It depends on where you are coming from and how far you want to travel.

Versilia Region (Viareggio to Forte dei Marmi) is in the northern Tuscan coast and is closest to Florence (1.5 hours drive). Long sandy beaches with lots of beach concessions. This is a photo of Viareggio. The entire Versilia area north of Viareggio looks similar.

If you want a quieter pretty town with some cliffs then Castiglioncello might do for you. The White Sands of Rosignano are nearby. Same driving time from Florence, just south of Livorno.

Southern Tuscany area is called Maremma. The best beaches are probably in Maremma. But a car is probably a must.

Although I think the best sea in on the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.
