Anyone spent time in this town? Looking for a quiet break with a beach in between Paris and Rome trips.
Will spend 3 nights here. Thinking of flying from Paris to Lucca if possible. I think that's the nearest airport. Thanks!

I've not visited Viareggio, but I believe the closest airport would be Pisa.

Viareggio is an excellent resort city with lots to do. Great beaches, shopping, people watching, restaurants, pine woods parks, children's amusement parks, an outdoor market, boat excursions, Liberty style (Italian art deco) architecture. If you like Puccini and opera, look up nearby Torre del Lago. Use Pisa airport and I think there is a bus direct from the airport or you can take a train or even a taxi would be thinkable.

Our family went to the beach in Viareggio, all 12 of us, and had a wonderful time. A big city and lots of industry but lots of fun. If you can't fly into Lucca try Pisa, it is very close to Viareggio.
