Viareggio Carnevale [INVALID] Mardi Gras

Has anyone been in Viareggio during Carnival? We are going to be in the area March 6-9 and wonder if it is worth experiencing? Also wondering if it affects hotels in Lucca, Pisa or Cinque Terra as they say there are close by. They say they get up to a million visitors. Thanks
