Waze works well throughout Europe. You will need a good data plan.

@nigel thank you. Tim Tourist s SIM card has 200 min, 50 gb ? Would that be adequate?

50 gig? That's enough for about a year

I don’t use Waze much in the US, but Italians swear by it, so I use it there. It’s particularly helpful at warning you about hidden speed cameras, accidents, stalled vehicles, etc.

I also use Google Maps, which I use in the US more often. Just as great with the directions but not as accurate with speed cameras and other warnings. All Italian taxi drivers use Waze.

I don't have much data on my phone and so having 50 gb data on the Tim Tourist would be heaven :-)

Yes Waze is useful with its hidden speed camera, accident, police locations. Glad to hear it's used in Italy and vouched by taxi drivers.
I use it in Canada for the above reasons.

ViaMichelin app I know is good for gas & toll estimation as well as trying to find interesting sites (I've read that in the RS forum & else where.) Does anyone know to enter an address (Italian) properly in the app or the desktop version? So far I can only enter the postal code and the city and Italy.

I was able to enter the address where I lived in Florence and the address where my cousin lives in a smaller town in the Arezzo province without any problem. Not sure what address you are trying to enter and is not working for you.

I think I figured out. I should enter "Strada dei Tufi 59, 53100 Siena" as address for my B&B Fonte dei Tufi
