Via Francigena

Any advise regarding walking Via Francigena from Gambassi Terme to San Gimignano …. Or…. From Colle di Val della to Monteriggioni?

What are you wondering? I haven't had much of a chance to hike in Italy because we're too busy touristing but I would love to do some of this. They seem to be similar in length and elevation gain/loss.

Gambassi Terme to San Gimignano: This seems like a classic Tuscan scenery trail but a touch more town access and less nature and more farms - 8.4mi.

Colle di Val della to Monteriggioni: There seem to be two versions of this trail - 8.7mi versus 10.8mi which includes a swing through the forest and takes in the river. This one seems more rural and park/nature oriented - at least one of versions has natural hot springs.

What's your transportation situation? I think Gambassi Terme to San Gimignano has better access to mass transit. You can train as far as Castelfiorentino and then bus to Gambassi Terme. You can train there from Florence or Poggibonsi. And then bus from SG to Poggibonsi to get back on the train to either Florence or Siena.
Both Colle di Val della to Monteriggioni are going to take bus connections - I'd say Poggibonsi to Colle di Val della and Monteriggioni to Siena are probably your best options.
If your transportation being handled then this is not a concern. If the hikes seem equal to you and you have to arrange your own transportation I'd favor GT > SG.
