Is it reasonable to visit these three locations in one day? We'll be 2 families traveling - four adults, four teenage girls. I've been to Rome several times, as have my girls, the other family has not traveled out of the US. I am notoriously ground-transportation challenged and would like to make this as smooth as possible :) I've been to Ostia, and Via Appia Antica (and to me it's reasonable to alot a half day to each) I'm wondering if Aquaduct Park is a good final stop before we head back to our flat (near the Vatican) or if I'm asking too much of our group. Thanks for taking the time to read!
I did Ostia and Aquaduct Park last september. Both are easy to get to with the metro. I'm not sure about the Via Appia. I would say YES try for all 3. I would also try to be in Aquaduct Park a little before sunset. You don't need long there, maybe an hour at the park. We were there for Sunset and loved it. Some of my favorite photo's were of the sunset directly behind the aquaducts. We felt totally safe walking back to the metro after sunset in the residential neighborhood.
I used to live near Aqueduct Park, before it was a "park". The area is served by buses and metro, but check schedules for frequency.
It may be a very tiring day, but I think it is doable. Make Ostia the first stop, early in the AM, and make Parco degli Acquedotti your last stop, after Appia Antica.
Ron in Rome's website has great instructions for getting there.
Thank you for the responses!
