VFR April 2019 Firenze Card

I understand that the Duomo Museum is not a part of the Florence tour, so... do we need to purchase a Firenze Card or do we get one as part of the tour since many of the other museums covered by the card are on the tour. OR... do we need to just purchase tickets to the museum when we arrive?

Yes, I know. My question is whether or not we need one, or if we get one as part of the tour? OR... if we need to just purchase tickets to the museum when we arrive.

It would be quickest to call the office and ask.
Have a wonderful tour.

I took this tour last fall. The tour doesn't include the Firenze Card, and I wouldn't expect it to. I went to the Duomo Museum on my own during some of the free time we had. I bought an individual ticket at the door with no problem. I did the same with the Bargello, Or San Michaele, the Medici Chapels, and some other sights.

Without knowing much about the Firenze Card, I assume that it's a good value for independent travelers who want to see a lot of Florence sights in a limited time. I doubt if it would have been a good value for me, since the tour covered a number of places and I might not have seen enough additional to justify the price. I don't see how it could have saved me any time (which can be worth money on a trip).

The whole tour was a great experience, Stacy Gibboni was a wonderful guide, I enjoyed all my companions. I was lucky to have a few days in Venice before and a few days in Rome after. I hope you have the same opportunity.

No, Rick Steves Tours don't use Firenze Cards. The guide has a reserved tickets for those museums that the group visits together. (The only city I can think of where we use museum passes is Paris.)

mechurch, don't buy a Firenzecard just for the duomo museum or that plus a few additional sites you might visit on your own. It's an expensive pass that takes time (and a busy sightseeing lineup) to get the good out of and you simply will not have that with just one free afternoon and part of another to work with. Queues are also not that long at many of the less visited but no-less fascinating attractions, and you'll have covered the mighty Uffizi and Accademia with your tour group

I would probably purchase the tickets for the duomo complex in advance. You can do that here (link below) and, no, there is no single ticket JUST for the museum. Do at least take a look at the baptistry while you're there? It won't take long, the mosaics are simply stunning, and you'll be getting a bit more value out of your tickets! :O)
