Vespa Tour in Chianti Wine Region

Hello,

I would appreciate feedback on taking a Vespa Tour. I have one booked with Viator and they work with Florencetown. I inquired where they drive to and was told, Imprunetta. There is another tour company mytours and they go to what I am told are cant miss locations: Sienna and Monteriggioni.

Thank you!

If both tours depart from Florence, the one going to Impruneta would be a short one, technically not even as far as the Chianti Area. Impruneta is the municipality immediately to the south of Florence city limits.

The one going to Siena and Monteriggioni (assuming the starting point is Florence), is a major Vespa tour that will take the whole day, and you will feel it in your derrière at the end of the day, if you are not used to long motorcycle rides.

I am assuming you are an expert motorcycle rider at home, because if you are not you shouldn’t take either tour. Riding motorcycles or scooters is inherently dangerous anywhere, even more so in the twisting and narrow Tuscan highways. An inexperienced person who has never been on motorcycles or motoscooters shouldn’t try it in Italy the first time.

Please give careful consideration to Roberto's warning. This is not something that should be attempted by a novice.

I own a Vespa, ride it frequently at home, have been a cyclist for decades and am use to being one of the slower things on the road so view myself as pretty experienced. I would not do a Vespa tour in Italy as a driver. I am not sure I would even do it riding double. There are better ways to see the wineries.
