Has anyone rented a Vespa / scooter for the day on the island of Capri? How was your experience? Would you recommend it? Is there a company that you would recommend? I think I need to have an international driver's license to rent one as well. Thanks for any input!

Do you know that large parts of Capri are pedestrianized, off limits to motor vehicles? Many hills and blind curves. Bad place to learn scooter driving.

My son rented a vespa. he had pictures of before and after, and the company still charged him for damage. So, be careful. My credit card company couldn't do anything to help.

Tim, I don't know much about Capri, so thank you for mentioning that there are many pedestrian-only areas. I am in early stages of planning and am looking for advice about whether or not a scooter is a recommend or fun way to get around the island. Like many others, I obviously have the classic dream of riding a Vespa through some of Italy and want to know if Capri is a good place to do so or not.
matureandtravels - do you know how your son rented the vespa and from which company? Did he book online? Did he rent from a company in the marina?
