Could I ask if anyone has experience of hiring Vespas 🛵 while staying in Siena please. Our plan is to visit in April and we thought it would be a good way to explore the area outside of the city. ( we were in Naples recently where scooter riding certainly wasn't for the faint hearted tourist).

Unless you are very familiar with riding vespas I would suggest getting a car instead. Learning to drive vespas while on vacation in a foreign country is not the best idea.

Listen to Donna's advice. If you have had no experience driving scooters, they CAN be lethal. Go around a curve or take a corner too fast, dodge oncoming traffic and you're on the ground. Traffic in Naples is slow compared to traffic outside Sienna. Vespas look cute but can be very dangerous. I'm an experienced scooter driver and I won't rent one overseas.
I regret to inform you I cannot directly address your question..... my suicidal tendencies are well suppressed.
Something to consider only if you are an experienced rider.
However if you are 90+ and feel you have done everything you need/want to do in this lifetime, then go for it. :-)
Many thanks everyone and I may reflect a little more on my idea.... a little red Fiat 500 may just suffice instead.
