Spending a week in Varese Italy later this month. Renting a Vespa for the week. Looking for day trips around this beautiful lake area. Appreciate any/all ideas. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your reply. Have not been in this area before. Would enjoy day rides out of Varese to yes, scenic towns around Lake Como. But also around Lake Varese and possibly Lake Maggiore. Try to avoid busy roads. Beautiful rides, lunch in towns to enjoy a local dish. Enjoy a solo picnic. Perhaps a boat ride or experience a day on a kayak. Slow rides, leisurely lunches. Strike up some conversations with locals. No "must see" agenda established yet. Also, appreciate your advise on close proximity to Switzerland!

I believe you are right in that locals will be able to steer me in the proper directions! I can't go wrong!! I know I'll find historic, scenic and unique day trip destinations. Thanks much. Via this travel forum, I was able to hookup with a Varese Vespa rental place. Take care! Summer
